This weekend, Victory Athletics has representatives at the biggest High School Invitational in the country!

In the open sections we have Ryan Cadwalder of St. Paul HS, Eric Simms and Trent Perez of Servite HS. The winner of the open section automatically is entered to compete in the Invitational wtih two Victory Athletics members!

In the women open section, we have Nicole Rapp of Chino Hills HS. The first girls entry of Victory Athletics history!

Nick Masterson of Servite and Dusty Brown from St. Paul HS will be competing in the Invitational section. This meet will be highlighted by three Nor-Cal vaulters over 16-02, and one over 17 ft!

I am very proud of all of these athletes that have qualified to compete in such an elite High School Track meet. I know they will represent VA and their high schools very well.

Practice Schedule

Due to Easter celebrations and family get togethers, there will not be practice held on March 23rd.

We will soon offer an evening session during the week to accommodate any mid week practice sessions.  If interested in a mid week session in the evening time, please let me know.

Good luck in all of your meets!

National Pole Vault Summit

Victory Athletics was represented very well in Reno, NV over the weekend. Nick Masterson (SR.-Servite HS) jumped 13-02 and just missed 13-08, which is just under his PR. Colin Parker (SR-Servite HS) jumped 11-02, which is only one inch under his PR from a year ago. Both are great early season marks for the Friars.

The highlight of the Summit was to have the first ever Victory Athletics Elite team compete in the elite section. Crowd favorites, Mike Landers and Justin Norberg represented VA very well wearing the colors of Victory! Norberg managed to clear a modest 17-01 and looked good doing it, while Landers was able to leap 17-07!

Landers plans on training through the indoor season and focus on qualifying for the USA Olympic Trials in mid June. Norberg is looking to earn a spot on the USA indoor world championship team as well as the Olympic team. Both are looking very solid for this time of year.

National Pole Vault Summit

Athletes from all over the nation are getting their pole bags ready and heading to ‘the biggest little city in the world!’

The pole vault summit is an event that is made for pole vaulters. With over 2000 vaulters, coaches and parents all getting together for clinics, speakers and a competition. All ages are welcome, anywhere from small children to the ‘masters’ division (i’ve seen up to 80 yrs old!)

This year, Victory Athletics is going to have two representatives in the elite section. Justin Norberg and Mike Landers. Norberg has a personal best of 5.75m (18-10.5) and is the newest member to join Victory elite.

Landers is just beginning his first post-collegiate season. He graduated UCLA last June and plans on over achieving his All-American status he earned twice. Look out for these two as they soar to new heights.

At the 2007 summit, Landers and Norberg spoke to a group of athletes about what it takes to excel in track and school.  The audience was on the edge of their seats….
