All American to join Victory Athletics

Victory Athletics announces its first elite member.
Mike Landers, (Merced, CA) Will join Victory Athletics as the first elite athlete.

Landers has just finished his collegiate pole-vaulting career at UCLA where he was a two-time All-American and placed himself 5th on the all time list at 5.50m (18-00.5)  He finished 3rd and 2nd at the NCAA outdoor nationals placing right behind super phenom Tommy Skipper (Oregon) at the 2007 Championships.

Landers brings an amazing talent and work-ethic that will help his elite career.

“I am very excited to be part of one of the fastest growing clubs in Southern California,” says Landers

Landers will split time with training between Coach B.J. Vandrovec (Cal. State Fullerton) and Anthony Curran (UCLA)

“Mike will bring a much needed lift and national exposure that this club needs to achieve its goal of national attention.” Mike will compete at the Clovis Glass Street vault on August 2nd in Fresno, CA. Vandrovec goes on to say “Seeing Mike in the uniform at the (Clovis) street vault will be very exciting for me as he will be a great representative of the club”

Once the summer winds to an end, Landers will begin training for the 2008 Olympic trials which will be held in Eugene, OR.

“My main goal is to make an olympic team, whether it be 2008, or 2012.  I have the same dream that almost all other vaulters have and understand the work its going to take to wear the red, white and blue at the biggest athletics contest in the world,” says Landers.
